Chapter 10 - CHARLES WANTS ME REMOVED

The trust petition arrived eight days later.

Charles requested that First Mountain remove me as family representative for Nina’s trust.

Grounds:

Emotional instability.

Failure to maintain beneficiary standard of living.

Refusal to participate in corporate governance.

Hostility toward extended family.

Destruction of property.

Financial underutilization of beneficiary resources.

That last one made me laugh.

I was apparently irresponsible because I did not spend enough of Nina’s trust.

Evidence included photographs.

Nina wearing inexpensive clothes.

Our townhouse.

My six-year-old Toyota.

Public school.

Discount-store receipts.

None proved neglect.

But they told a story.

Rachel is sitting on millions while Nina lives cheaply.

The problem with the story?

Nina was healthy.

Fed.

Educated.

Insured.

Loved.

Our townhouse was safe.

Her school excellent.

My income paid our life.

I did not treat a child’s trust as lifestyle decoration.

Charles did.
