Chapter 20 - MONIQUE LEARNS WHAT SHE BENEFITED FROM
Monique had known her company received favorable contracts.
She did not know about the forged proxy.
At least evidence did not show she did.
She knew Sylvia bought Vivian expensive clothing.
Did she know some was reimbursed through Nina’s trust?
One email.
Monique:
These shoes were supposed to be for Nina?
Sylvia:
She’ll never wear them.
Monique:
Then return.
Sylvia:
Already reimbursed. Easier to keep.
Monique:
Mom.
No reply.
Monique never reported it.
She let Vivian wear them.
That made her complicit in a smaller piece.
Not the whole scheme.
When she saw WHY RACHEL SHOULD NOT CONTROL NINA’S SHARES, she called me.
“I didn’t know.”
“I believe you didn’t know all of it.”
That hurt her.
“Do you believe I knew some?”
“Yes.”
Silence.
“I laughed at Nina.”
“Yes.”
“I hate myself for that.”
“Deal with that in therapy. Don’t hand it to me.”
She cried.
