At sixteen, Ethan asked to see the old C17 report.
Not the prosecution summary.
The engineering report.
Grace approved access to redacted company records because he was a shareholder beneficiary and direct family member affected.
He read:
Failure rates.
Torque curves.
Supplier tolerances.
Inspection protocols.
Then:
“Grandpa wasn’t completely wrong that assembly mattered.”
“No.”
“He was wrong to hide disagreement.”
“Yes.”
“And you were wrong to push shipments.”
“Yes.”
He looked at me.
“Do you hate that I’m saying that?”
“No.”
“I would.”
“I used to.”
He smiled.
Ethan loved engineering.
That frightened me at first.
