Chapter 10 - THE TWO LIES LUCINDA BUILT
The central secret emerged from archived family-office email backups.
Lucinda had built two parallel stories.
To me:
Adeline had submitted to paternity testing.
Results excluded me.
Adeline wanted money without contact.
She refused further testing.
She threatened scandal.
She wanted the twins raised outside the Ventresca family.
To Adeline:
I refused legitimate paternity testing.
I believed the twins were not mine.
I wanted no contact.
I would send limited voluntary support only if she stopped pursuing legal fatherhood.
Any attempt to reach me directly would end payments.
Both stories depended on forged or altered documents.
The false laboratory report.
The false lawyer letter to me.
A fabricated family-office memo claiming Adeline declined chain-of-custody testing.
A false notice to Adeline stating:
Mr. Ventresca declines acknowledgment of parentage.
My signature was not forged there.
It was issued under family-office authority.
That distinction mattered legally.
Lucinda used her role as administrator to speak in my name without a specific signature.
Then money.
She redirected my payments into the VFC account after presenting the change to me as a confidentiality measure.
She passed only a fraction to Adeline.
Kept the rest under “matriarch discretion.”
Why?
Not mainly greed.
Priya found Lucinda’s personal net worth already exceeded several million dollars.
She did use some money for unrelated expenses.
But the motive in her emails was control.
Lucinda believed Adeline had humiliated the Ventresca family by leaving while pregnant.
She believed if the twins were mine, Adeline could always use them to retain influence over me.
She also believed I would take Adeline back if I knew they were mine.
That was the part she feared most.
One email to an old family adviser:
Rocco is weak where that woman is concerned. If the boys are confirmed as his, she will own his decisions for the next twenty years.
Then:
Better he believes the bloodline question is closed.
Bloodline.
Family reputation.
Control.
Another:
I will support the children enough that no one can say we abandoned them, but she will not profit from leaving my son.
There.
She did not want the twins dead.
She did not want them homeless.
She wanted Adeline dependent enough to remain quiet and separate.
The support became a leash.
Then the forged paternity report.
Investigators traced the document template to an old private-lab PDF saved years earlier on Lucinda’s computer from another family medical matter.
The fake case number.
Old logo.
Retired pathologist’s signature scanned from public material.
No hired doctor.
No lab conspiracy.
Lucinda or someone using her computer built it.
Printer logs from the family office at the time matched.
Then one file name:
ROCCO CLOSEOUT.
My chest went cold.
Inside:
Fake report.
False attorney letter.
Draft talking points for Lucinda.
Tell R he is not father.
Tell A R refuses testing.
Maintain support through VFC.
No direct contact.
Review at twins age 5.
