Chapter 8 - Lenora’s House

CPS inspected Lenora’s home because she had regular grandparent caregiving.
Nothing alarming.
Clean.
Safe.
Pool fenced.
Life jackets.
No “torture room.”
Then notebooks.
Lenora voluntarily produced a binder to prove her method was structured.
This backfired.
Sections:
PIERCE.
CADE.
Pierce at age eight.
Wave confidence.
Minutes.
Crying.
Distance.
Notes.
Not daily.
Several summer sessions.
Then Cade.
Three sessions.
June 4:
Foam line, vest on.
Cried 6 min.
Returned to towel after calm.
June 21:
Knee depth.
Attempted retreat.
Restarted.
July 12:
Vest removed 20 sec.
Cried immediately.
Reapplied.
That last one.
Pierce did not know.
At least he said not.
Could we verify?
No message that day.
Lenora wrote:
Parents too protective. Do not mention unless progress.
There.
Intentional concealment.
Then:
August resort plan.
The birthday? no, beach weekend.
CADE — OCEAN RESET.
A photo matched Pierce’s phone.
But binder version had corrections.
Original writing visible underneath.
CPS asked for forensic copy.
The original photograph became key.
Then Lenora said:
“Exposure therapy requires staying with discomfort.”
Bethany:
“Are you a therapist?”
“No.”
“Was Cade’s therapist involved?”
“He didn’t have one.”
“Did his parents authorize removing life vest?”
“Pierce did.”
Pierce disputed.
Then Bethany:
“Adair?”
“No.”
“Did you tell her?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“She would interfere.”
There.
Not just disagreement.
Concealment.
Then:
“Did Cade ask you to stop?”
“Yes.”
“Why did you continue?”
“Because stopping teaches avoidance.”
That answer would follow her into court.
Then Lys? no other grandparent. Keep focused.

CPS finding pending.
No emergency because no contact.
