Chapter 20 - My Testimony
I testified.
“Did you kick Lenora?”
“Yes.”
“Outcome?”
“Completed diversion; charge dismissed.”
“Was that justified?”
“I was angry. By then Cade was upright with me. I could have moved away.”
Defense looked surprised I gave them line.
Then:
“Did Pierce tell Lenora to help Cade with water fear?”
“Yes.”
“Did he authorize her to continue until he stopped crying?”
“His texts said not to bring him back until he could stand in surf without crying.”
“Did you know that before incident?”
“No.”
“Did you personally forbid Lenora from ever removing life vest?”
“We had repeatedly told her Cade wears it around surf.”
“Was that written?”
“No.”
“Could she believe Pierce overrode that?”
“Yes.”
Important.
Then prosecutor redirect:
“Did Pierce authorize pushing Cade down?”
“No.”
“Did you hear him authorize ignoring Cade asking for his vest?”
“Through messages later, yes.”
“What did Lenora herself write?”
“Vest off. No return until Level Three.”
Evidence spoke.
