Chapter 9 - DIANA’S PHONE

Diana did not voluntarily hand over her phone.
She did not need to for the affair.
But her communications became relevant to the assault case because my attorney argued the tray incident followed my confrontation about Nathan and Maren.
Police obtained the limited records authorized under lawful process.
Messages between mother and son.
Not her whole life.
Six weeks earlier:
DIANA:
Elise called me about the woman.
NATHAN:
I told her the truth.
DIANA:
All of it?
No answer for nineteen minutes.
Then:
NATHAN:
Enough to fix it.
There.
Three weeks earlier:
DIANA:
Is Maren still contacting you?
NATHAN:
Sometimes.
DIANA:
End this before the baby comes.
Not:
Tell Elise.
End it.
One week earlier:
DIANA:
She suspects more.
NATHAN:
I have it handled.
Birthday day:
5:18 p.m.
NATHAN:
Maren says she will come to Elise if I do not see her.
DIANA:
Absolutely not.
5:24.
NATHAN:
She wants closure.
DIANA:
Give her closure elsewhere.
5:31.
NATHAN:
Too late. She knows the club.
Then the message that changed the whole picture:
DIANA:
I will keep Elise downstairs. You have ten minutes. Finish it before Lucio comes out.
Not:
Do not come.
Not:
Tell your wife.
Keep Elise downstairs.

The tray was not random hostility.
Diana was managing time.
