Chapter 8 - THE ORGANIZER

The professional organizer was named Melissa Grant.
No criminal conspiracy.
No secret allegiance.
She had been hired legitimately by Celeste using household funds within an authorized spending limit.
Her engagement email said:
Pre-wedding household consolidation.
Melissa asked:
“Are sentimental family archives included?”
Celeste replied:
Yes, except fine jewelry and legal documents.
Melissa asked:
“Has Mr. Ventresca approved disposal?”
Celeste:
He approved simplification and delegated home transition to me.
That was misleading.
Not entirely invented.
Then the organizer’s notes.
KEEP.
STORE.
DONATE.
RECYCLE.
REVIEW WITH CELESTE.
The journals had been marked STORE.
Good.
Photo albums STORE.
Good.
Clothes split.
Some donated.
Some recycled.
Children’s books marked:
REVIEW.
Nothing had been burned.
No dumpster full of photographs.
No dramatic bonfire.
The damage was quieter.
A woman had taken authority over memory she did not own.
Melissa cooperated fully.
She looked horrified when she learned there had been no clear approval.
“I would never knowingly destroy a child’s inherited items.”
I believed her.
The chain mattered.
Celeste directed.
Melissa implemented under false assumptions.

Staff complied because they believed I had agreed.
No one else needed to become villain.
