Our wedding planner kept a shared digital folder.
Menus.
Flowers.
Guest transportation.
Seating.
Then one subfolder:
POST-WEDDING HOME TRANSITION.
I had never opened it.
Why would a wedding planner manage our home?
She did not.
Celeste had uploaded documents there because she used the folder for everything.
The first was ordinary.
Guest-room reassignments.
Closet space.
Staff schedule during honeymoon.
Then:
PRIMARY BEDROOM RESET.
FAMILY ROOM UPDATE.
EVA ROOM TRANSITION.
The phrase bothered me.
Eva’s room did not require transition.
I opened it.
New curtains.
New rug.
New shelves.
No problem.
Then:
Remove visible grief objects before return from honeymoon.
I read it twice.
Below:
Locket — discuss later.
Mara photo bedside — relocate to memory box.
Mara photo family room — remove.
Hospital-era objects — dispose/archive.
Keepsake cabinet — consolidate offsite.
Child books with maternal inscriptions — evaluate.
Evaluate.
A person does not evaluate whether a dead mother’s handwriting deserves shelf space unless something has already gone wrong inside the evaluator.
Then one line:
Goal: one home, one active maternal identity.
My stomach tightened.
Not:
one household.
Not:
new chapter.
