Chapter 11 - THE BABY MOVES
Two days after discharge, Natalie stopped feeling the baby as strongly.
Not no movement.
Less.
She called the obstetrician immediately.
Good.
No waiting because we were afraid of looking dramatic.
We went to labor and delivery triage.
Nonstress test.
Reassuring.
Ultrasound.
Reassuring.
The baby began kicking harder while the monitor was on.
Of course.
Natalie cried anyway.
The nurse said:
“Coming in was the right decision.”
Important sentence.
Not because every concern means catastrophe.
Because pregnant people should not be trained by family ridicule to ignore changes.
Natalie told the nurse:
“My father-in-law says I make scenes.”
The nurse answered:
“I am not managing your father-in-law.”
I laughed for the first time in days.
Natalie did too.
Then she winced because her ribs still hurt.
No fracture.
