Paul Danner had spent twenty years around the Keller family.
That was his defense and his indictment.
He knew our habits.
Richard says something.
Eleanor documents it.
Katherine gets the result.
Everyone assumes somebody else handled consent.
Paul had objected to the related-party concentration.
Then accepted the fake approval.
Why?
“My job.”
Not enough.
He also received a $90,000 retention bonus after Hawthorn closed.
Not a bribe.
A company bonus.
Still incentive.
Regulators charged him with fiduciary-record violations and false certifications.
He cooperated.
No evidence he fabricated my signature personally.
He drafted the form.
Eleanor applied the signature image.
Richard approved the use.
Paul submitted it.
Different hands.
One false document.
He entered a plea.
Short professional suspension.
Probation.
Restitution.
Permanent prohibition from administering family beneficiary accounts.
He later told investigators:
“The Kellers trained everyone to believe delay was more dangerous than permission.”
I wrote that sentence down.
