Chapter 25 - SERENA AND ME, TWENTY YEARS LATER

We stayed married.
Not because we recovered the old marriage.
We built another.
Serena’s memory never returned perfectly.
She forgot one vacation entirely.
Remembered another I barely recalled.
Sometimes she asked:
“Did we really fight about blue curtains for three weeks?”
“Yes.”
“Ridiculous.”
“You were wrong.”
She laughed.
We grew older.
Perrin moved out.
The house became quiet.
One anniversary Serena asked:
“If the crash never happened, would we still be married?”
“I don’t know.”
She smiled.
“Good answer.”
