Chapter 17 - PERRIN AND DOORS

Perrin hated closed doors.

For years.

Bathroom doors stayed cracked.

Bedroom doors open.

Closets checked.

No teasing.

At six he learned how every door in our new house opened.

At seven he asked for a lock on his bedroom.

Serena hesitated.

I did too.

Then realized:

Choice.

He wanted control.

We installed a privacy lock that adults could override only in emergency.

He loved it.

First night:

door closed.

Five minutes later:

open.

Second:

closed ten minutes.

Eventually normal.

At eight he said:

“I don’t remember wall much.”

I cried later.

May you like

Not in front of him.

Forgetting can be a gift.
