Chapter 23 - THE ENGAGEMENT RING

Rhea’s engagement ring stayed in legal storage for years because property disputes are absurd.
Eventually the court returned it to me under the applicable engagement-gift rules after our marriage never occurred.
I did not keep it.
I did not smash it.
I sold it.
After taxes and fees, the money went to a child advocacy organization Perrin’s therapist recommended.
Not revenge charity.
No public announcement.
I told Perrin when he was older.
He laughed.
“Could’ve bought car.”
“Yes.”
“Bad financial decision.”
“Probably.”
