Then corporate investigation.
Then Robert’s trial.
Eventually, Everwood asked whether to restore it.
A conservator said restoration was possible but would replace large portions.
Grace asked Josephine.
By then she was twenty.
“It wasn’t mine,” Josephine said.
Technically true.
Company archive property.
The board decided not to reconstruct it into a fake original.
Instead, they preserved three surviving fragments in archival storage.
No public display about family scandal.
No plaque saying:
THE HORSE THAT BROUGHT DOWN ROBERT.
Good.
The archive catalog simply read:
A-001 — Founder prototype. Damaged 2026. Partial remains preserved.
