Chapter 21 - REBECCA AFTER PRISON
Rebecca completed her sentence and supervision years later.
She was barred permanently from Reed Heritage fiduciary work.
She moved to another state.
Found administrative work outside finance.
No automatic family return.
Lily was twenty-two when Rebecca requested a meeting.
Lily said no.
At twenty-five, she said yes.
I did not attend.
Later she told me:
“She looked normal.”
“What did you expect?”
“I don’t know. A villain.”
People rarely look like the worst thing they did.
Rebecca apologized without mentioning BlueRiver first.
Good.
Lily asked:
“Did you hate me?”
Rebecca answered:
“No. I hated what your existence changed.”
“That’s worse.”
“Yes.”
The meeting lasted twenty minutes.
No hug.
No future schedule.
Lily said afterward:
May you like
“I don’t forgive her enough to want her around.”
That was a complete sentence.
