Chapter 26 - OSRIC’S SON

Osric became a father at thirty-five.

A boy named Theo.

At four, Theo loved carrying plates.

Of course.

One dinner he insisted on helping.

Osric froze.

I saw it.

“Dad, I do it!”

Theo carried plastic cups to the table.

One at a time.

Proud.

Osric watched.

His wife asked:

“You okay?”

He nodded.

Then said:

“The difference is he wants to.”

Yes.

Theo delivered my cup.

“Grandma Merryn!”

“Thank you.”

“Say sir.”

I laughed.

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re not my boss.”

He grinned.

“I boss.”

Osric immediately said:

“Nope.”

Everyone laughed.
