Chapter 20 - JESSICA AND THE CHILDREN

Jessica’s children asked why Lily stopped coming to parties.

Adults had told them too much.

One said:

“Grandma said Lily tried to take our company.”

Jessica corrected that.

“No child took anything.”

Good.

She requested a cousin visit.

I asked Lily.

She wanted Chloe.

Not the adults.

We met at a park.

Chloe hugged her immediately.

“I’m sorry you were outside.”

“You didn’t tie me.”

“I know.”

“Did you eat cake?”

Chloe looked ashamed.

“Yes.”

Lily thought.

“Was it good?”

Children.

Chloe laughed through tears.

“Too much frosting.”

They played.
