Chapter 24 - THE LAST COURT ORDER

When Lily was eight, the final long-term protective-order review occurred.

No drama.

Rebecca had complied for years.

Linda’s relationship with Lily was supervised first, then ordinary daytime contact by agreement.

Robert had completed sentence and treatment but remained emotionally distant from Lily.

The court did not force contact.

Good.

Grandparent relationships are not prizes.

Rebecca’s restriction became:

Contact only with Daniel’s consent and Lily’s willingness.

Linda:

No special restriction beyond ordinary family boundaries after review.

Robert:

Same legal possibility eventually, but no automatic schedule.

Lily’s therapist recommended:

Do not turn the child into the decision-maker for adult redemption.

Important.

So I did not ask:

Do you forgive Grandpa?

I asked:

Would seeing him feel okay right now?

Answer:

“No.”

Enough.

The order closed with no cliffhanger.

No new evidence.

No mystery witness.

Just boundaries.
