Chapter 25 - WILLIAM’S CHOICE

William studied sports medicine.

Not hospitality.

Not finance.

Not law.

He loved baseball because apparently the universe has a sense of humor.

At twenty-seven, he sold most of his remaining Howerin shares through a structured transaction.

Employees and institutional investors bought part.

The company bought back part.

He retained three percent.

“Why keep any?”

“Diversification adviser says it’s reasonable.”

“No sentimental reason?”

“Maybe one.”

“What?”

“Dad cared whether the company survived without lying.”

That was enough.

He used some trust distributions to open a rehabilitation clinic specializing in youth athletes.

Independent business plan.

Real loans.

No family company automatically funding it.

I invested nothing.

He did not ask.

I loved that.
