Chapter 26 - AMOS’S DAUGHTER

Amos became a father at thirty-four.
His daughter, Maisie, was four when she refused dinner one evening.
“Not hungry.”
Amos looked at the plate.
Then at her.
“You sure?”
“Yes.”
“Okay.”
Ten minutes later:
“I’m hungry.”
He laughed.
“Of course.”
He reheated dinner.
No lesson.
No:
You had your chance.
No kneeling.
No scraps.
Later he called me.
“I heard Eudora in my head.”
“What did she say?”
“Don’t let her control the meal.”
“What did you do?”
“Fed my kid.”
“Good.”
“Do I win therapy?”
“No.”
May you like
He laughed.
