A third survived because an employee triggered a manual suppression system before evacuating.
The employee, twenty-six-year-old Paul Turner, suffered smoke inhalation.
He told investigators he saw Owen Shaw inside wearing a Carrington maintenance uniform.
Camera footage showed a man of similar height.
Facial identification was impossible.
Owen’s blood from the abandoned vehicle placed him alive after Ross claimed to shoot him.
He might have staged the injury.
Inside the surviving room, agents found genuine components removed from federal shipments, boxes of unsafe substitutes, and serial-number printers.
The records proved Alpha’s physical operation.
One export authorization carried Richard’s digital signature.
He had claimed Victoria handled shipments without his knowledge.
The authorization released restricted navigation units to a foreign distributor under the false description “hotel climate sensors.”
Richard’s attorney said he signed a batch approval without reading each manifest.
The master drive contained a message:
Victoria: Shipment C-19 needs your release.
Richard: Use my token. I don’t want the destination in my inbox.
He had known enough to avoid details.
That did not make him ignorant.
Dana withdrew the tentative plea offer.
Richard was arrested on expanded fraud, export, identity, and conspiracy charges.
He remained separate from Victoria pending trial.
Carrington Meridian entered restructuring.
A federal receiver preserved lawful hotel and freight operations while closing Alpha-linked subsidiaries.
More than six hundred employees kept their jobs.
Others lost positions tied to the failed acquisition and illegal trade.
The public argued about whether prosecution caused the collapse.
The financial records showed the company had been insolvent before Code Black.
Alpha delayed the truth.
It did not create it.
The surviving archive held Owen’s emergency plan.
He intended to steal the evidence convoy using spoofed traffic alerts and a cloned federal vehicle.
Caleb Ross would supply armed contractors.
Afterward, Owen planned to sell the master drive and disappear.
Ross claimed Owen still had help inside the agency.
Agent Mercer reviewed convoy assignments.
One transport supervisor had received payments from Meridian Risk Advisory.
He was arrested before the evidence moved.
The convoy route was redesigned.
Dad remained a protected witness because Owen’s map targeted him.
He asked Dana to use him as bait.
She refused.
“You have spent your career believing proximity to danger gives you control,” she said. “It does not.”
Dad accepted the decision.
Richard requested another proffer.
This time he offered direct testimony against Owen and Victoria, complete access to offshore accounts, and the location of an Alpha backup.
In return, he wanted a reduced sentencing recommendation and no prosecution connected to Grace’s trust.
Dana said Grace’s documents would remain part of the case.
Richard looked toward me.
“I can help stop Owen.”
“Then help without buying our daughter.”
He disclosed the backup location.
A Carrington charter jet had carried it to a private data center.
Agents recovered it.
The backup confirmed the master ledger and preserved deleted messages.
