Chapter 21 - THE PLEA OFFERS

Dorinda received the more straightforward criminal offer.

Admission:

She intentionally struck Camille with a wooden rolling pin while knowing Camille was visibly pregnant.

The strike caused pain and bruising.

She threatened further harm.

Recommended:

Misdemeanor or lower-level felony resolution depending statute and enhancement.

Short custodial exposure potentially suspended in part.

Probation.

Anger-management.

No contact inconsistent with protective order.

Restitution for medical expenses attributable to the assault.

Dorinda wanted the phrase:

"while knowing Camille was pregnant"

removed.

Impossible.

I was seven months pregnant in front of her.

No agreement.

Preston’s case was more complicated.

Financial charges:

Fraud based on earlier reimbursements.

Attempted fraud regarding the $300,000 reserve.

False document use.

Possible unlawful restraint/coercion-related count for blocking my exit.

His lawyer negotiated aggressively.

Preston offered to repay the full disputed amount.

Repayment mattered.

Did not erase offense.

He would admit:

Misclassified household reimbursements used temporarily for business purposes.

The prosecutor wanted:

Knowingly caused false pregnancy-related expense claims to be submitted.

Purpose again.
