Chapter 24 - BEATRICE’S LAST YEARS

Beatrice was released late in life under ordinary supervised medical provisions.
No company role.
No foundation role.
No trust access.
No contact with Ava unless Ava consented.
Ava was twenty-seven.
She said no.
Beatrice wrote once.
Then stopped when requested.
That mattered.
Sarah had been released earlier.
She lived in another state.
Worked in administrative event services under financial restrictions.
No relationship with Ava.
No requirement.
Julian died at seventy-eight from heart failure.
Ava did not attend his funeral.
Ethan did.
I did not.
Beatrice died two years later after a stroke.
Ava attended that funeral.
Why one and not the other?
“I wanted to.”
Enough.
Beatrice left Ava pearl earrings.
Ava looked at them.
“Do I have to do something symbolic?”
“No.”
“They’re nice.”
“Then keep them.”
She did.
She wore them to a medical conference.
