Chapter 21 - AVA AT EIGHTEEN

First Commonwealth explained her trust.

Twenty-four percent of protected voting rights.

Not twenty-four percent company ownership.

Economic interests separate.

Independent fiduciaries.

Consultation.

Tax.

Conflict rules.

Ava stared at the binder.

“Grandpa Harrison hated trees?”

The lawyer laughed.

“Apparently.”

She did not want Vance Meridian management.

She wanted to study emergency medicine.

That surprised me.

“Because hospital?”

She rolled her eyes.

“Maybe. Also biology exists.”

Fair.

We did not make trauma responsible for every ambition.

She attended medical school later.

Used lawful trust distributions for education.

No shame.

No performative poverty.

Money could be useful without being identity.

Ethan remained her father.

They had a limited but real relationship.

Dinner monthly.

Calls.

He attended graduation only because Ava invited him.

He sat several rows behind me.

No family seating war.

After graduation, he said:

“I’m proud of you.”

She answered:

“Thanks.”

Enough.

Ava asked First Commonwealth whether twenty-four percent was too much descendant-linked control.

The trustee smiled.

“Harrison’s trust requires review at twenty-five.”

She said:

“Good.”

My father anticipated his rules should not be permanent.

Another reason I missed him.

May you like

Not because he was perfect.

Because he understood power should expire unless justified again.
