Chapter 24 - ELLIOTT

Elliott became a pediatric cardiology nurse.

Yes, everyone made the obvious comment.

He ignored them.

At thirty, he told Liesl:

“I spent years feeling guilty.”

“For what?”

“Your hospital money.”

“You didn’t take it.”

“I know.”

“Then stop.”

“I’m working on it.”

She smiled.

“My therapist says family guilt is lazy because it makes feelings substitute for repair.”

“Your therapist sounds expensive.”

“She is.”

They laughed.

Elliott later served one term as a community representative on the independent pediatric fund board.

Not family seat.

Qualified nurse.

Conflict screened.

Recused when relatives applied.

Good.

The fund continued helping children.
