The reimbursement acknowledgment was not a hospital form.
It came from Cole’s attorney.

THIRD-PARTY PAYMENT AND NONINTERFERENCE ACKNOWLEDGMENT.
The attorney later testified he drafted it for discussion only.
Important.
It said:
Any payment by Enrico Savarese toward Poppy’s ordinary or emergency expenses would be treated as a voluntary third-party payment unless both parents requested otherwise.
Fine.
Then:
Such payment would not confer decision-making authority.
Also fine.
Then:
Enrico acknowledged that medical, educational, and custodial decisions belonged to Laurel and Cole as Poppy’s parents.
Legally obvious.
I had no problem signing that principle.
Then Cole added language himself.
Not his attorney.
Handwritten first.
Later typed.
Enrico acknowledges that his intervention in the transfer of Poppy Bishop to St. Anne Children’s Hospital caused additional transport charges of approximately $2,300, which Enrico agrees to reimburse.
False.
I did not cause the transfer.
Doctors did.
Why did that sentence matter so much?
Laurel did not know yet.
