Chapter 23 - The Closet Door

I removed the sliding bolt.

Not in a rage.

A screwdriver.

Ten minutes.

Perry watched.

“Can I do?”

“You can hold screws.”

He did.

We left the laundry closet itself.

Washer.

Dryer.

Shelves.

No need demolish.

Then he asked:

“Can dinosaur live there?”

His stuffed dinosaur.

I stared.

“Why?”

“Laundry dinosaur.”

Of course.

He placed it on shelf.

Then:

“Door close?”

“If nobody’s inside.”

He closed.

Opened.

Closed.

Normal.

Two years later, he would hide there voluntarily during hide-and-seek.

My heart nearly stopped.

Then he burst out laughing.
