Chapter 21 - The Managing Director Job

A year later, the position reopened.

Reid was offered again.

He almost declined automatically.

His therapist stopped him.

Was declining necessary for Perry?

No.

Could he build a schedule around parenting?

Yes.

Could he accept without making his child responsible for professional image?

That was the question.

He accepted with conditions:

No recurring client dinners on his custody nights except emergencies.

More team hosting at venues.

Protected school pickups.

Childcare backup he chose transparently.

No Constance default.

No secret.

Perry sometimes came to office events.

Sometimes not.

If he was loud?

People survived.

One partner once laughed when Perry corrected a senior executive about triceratops chronology.

Reid did not apologize.

Progress.
