Chapter 26 - THE BOX

Aunt Colleen died at eighty-two.

She left me Dad’s original archival box.

Empty now except copies.

I nearly threw it away.

Dany stopped me.

“That started everything.”

“No. Dad started everything.”

“Grandma started some.”

“True.”

“What was the most important thing in it?”

I thought.

Not the trust amendment.

Not the recordings.

Not the ledger.

The sentence under the lid.

Do not let Margaret tell you what this means before you read it yourself.

Information before interpretation.

That had changed me.

I kept the lid.

Recycled the rest.

May you like

One piece of cardboard.

Enough.
