Chapter 21 - THORA AT EIGHTEEN
Thora’s first adult beneficiary meeting disappointed her.
“Do I own ten percent of the house?”
“No.”
“Five?”
“No.”
“Can I paint my old bedroom?”
“Subject to property rules.”
“Can I fire the manager?”
“No.”
She looked at me.
“This family spent years fighting over meetings.”
“Yes.”
“Embarrassing.”
Also yes.
She studied education.
Not estate management.
People tried to make it symbolic.
Former child servant becomes teacher.
She hated that story.
“I like kids.”
Enough.
She used lawful trust distributions for university.
No shame.
Worked summers at a museum education program.
Not because she needed wages to prove character.
Because she wanted experience.
One summer she worked in the museum café for two weeks after staffing shortage.
I asked:
“Are you okay with that?”
She stared.
“Dad.”
