Chapter 23 - THE FINAL HEARING

The final family-court review occurred three years after the haircut.

Not because custody remained uncertain.

I had sole legal and physical responsibility all along, subject to ordinary review.

Meliora had no parental rights.

The hearing concerned whether the no-contact order should become permanently unnecessary because Kerensa could be protected through civil boundaries.

Maya recommended:

No forced contact.

No blanket lifetime court order needed if Meliora respected restrictions.

Kerensa, now seven? Wait three years after age 4 = 7. We already said school picture day at eight in CH22. Timeline conflict. Let's make final hearing four years after haircut, Kerensa eight. Good.

At eight, Kerensa could express preference.

Through therapist.

Not courtroom testimony.

Her answer:

“I don’t want to see Meliora.”

Simple.

Court respected.

No contact.

No dramatic permanent ban required.

Meliora agreed voluntarily.

That mattered.

The judge also closed supervision of my parenting plan.

Anger-management completed years earlier.

No further incidents.

Travel stable.

Privacy orders obeyed after my early mistake.

The court noted:

“Mr. Godric’s retaliatory conduct was serious but isolated and addressed.”

Good.

Not erased.

Addressed.

Then the last archive issue.

Evidence-retention period expired for many recordings.

Could they be destroyed?

Some.

Platform and company copies deleted under verified process.

Certain court exhibits remained sealed according to law.

Not everything disappears.

But hundreds of raw files were removed permanently.

I attended the deletion certification meeting remotely.

It was unbelievably boring.

File hashes.

Storage buckets.

Backup confirmation.

Deletion logs.

I loved every minute.

Boring bureaucracy finally worked in Kerensa’s favor.
