Chapter 6 - THE CLIP OF WILLIAM’S BOOT

Isabella released ballroom footage to the press.
The clip began after Ethan was already in my arms.
It showed her standing near the open wall.
Then William’s kick sent her down.
The hidden room was outside the frame.
Within hours, headlines described a wealthy husband attacking his wife during a custody dispute.
The court ordered William away from the mansion and restricted his unsupervised contact with Ethan. Isabella received one monitored visit each week.
The charity foundation board delayed her removal until the investigation produced clearer evidence.
She regained access to the estate under supervision.
That was the reversal she needed.
I lost my staff apartment because my employment remained suspended. William offered money.
I refused.
“You cannot fix every failure with a payment.”
“I know.”
“You ignored your son’s fear.”
His face tightened.
“I thought I was keeping the family stable.”
“You kept the appearance stable.”
The difference wounded him because it was true.
Detective Brooks recovered partial audio from the ballroom’s smart-control system. Most of it had been erased during lockdown.
One sentence remained.
Isabella’s voice:
Keep him quiet until the signatures are finished.
No second speaker could be identified.
Her attorney argued she referred to keeping a disruptive guest away from the charity dinner.
The timing contradicted that explanation but did not destroy it.
Police prepared to seize the mansion’s backup server.
Adrian Cole failed to report for work.
His house was empty.
His company vehicle was found at the airport.
The server cabinet in the estate security room had been opened with his master code.
Every backup drive was gone.

Before disappearing, Adrian sent one message to William:
I did what your father paid me to do. Isabella only learned how to use it.
