Chapter 10 - THE PLAN BEHIND THE WEDDING

The central plan emerged from lender records.

Vale House’s renovation debt had been quietly purchased at a discount by North Crest Holdings, Ethan’s company.

Foundation money stolen through false vendors helped fund the purchase.

Ethan and Chloe were using the venue’s own money to buy control over its debt.

If the bridge loan closed, they would gain a major ownership interest.

If it failed, North Crest could force default and seek control through foreclosure.

Either path led to the estate.

Alexander’s refusal created one obstacle.

My spousal consent created another.

Project Fountain was designed to remove both.

The false emergency delayed Alexander.

Chloe provoked Lily over the wine stain.

Robert pushed us where cameras had been disabled.

Guests recorded only my reaction.

The forged documents appeared in my purse.

A crisis attorney stood ready to call me unstable and ask a court to bypass my consent.

The full conspiracy had not depended on Robert shoving as hard as he did.

It depended on cruelty that looked spontaneous.

Detective Grant recovered messages confirming Chloe knew Robert planned to “put Emma in the water.”

Ethan approved the camera consultant.

Robert controlled access and evidence.

They were charged with conspiracy, fraud, identity theft, evidence fabrication, and assault-related offenses based on their individual roles.

But a new barrier appeared.

Alexander had signed a preliminary rescue authorization six months earlier.

The document allowed Chloe to negotiate emergency financing for Vale House within stated limits.

He had never told me.

Chloe’s defense claimed every later act grew from authority Alexander granted.

The authorization did not permit forged signatures, theft, or assault.

It made the financial boundary less clean.

Then Alexander admitted something worse.

He had known Ethan’s company intended to purchase part of the renovation debt.

He believed it would keep Vale House in the family.

He had objected only after learning our home would be collateral.

The plan had begun as a rescue he tolerated.

It became a conspiracy after he chose not to ask where the money came from.
