I testified about barbecue.

“Did Ambrose strike Callum?”
“No.”
“Did he push him?”
“Yes.”
“Did Callum resist?”
“Yes.”
“Did Ambrose lock crate?”
“Yes.”
“Duration?”
“I did not time it.”
Video did.
“Did you strike Ambrose?”
“Yes.”
“Were you charged?”
“Yes.”
“Outcome?”
“Completed diversion; charge dismissed.”
Then defense.
“You assaulted my client.”
“Yes.”
“Knocked him down.”
“Yes.”
“Were you emotionally out of control?”
“I was extremely angry and made a bad choice.”
Good.
Then:
“You describe Callum as terrified of dogs?”
“Yes.”
“Had you and your husband discussed helping him?”
“Yes.”
“Had Rafferty told Ambrose to help?”
“Generally, yes.”
There.
No hiding.
“So your family had authorized exposure.”
“No.”
“Your husband said help.”
“Yes.”
“Ambrose interpreted that differently.”
“Apparently.”
Then:
“Was Callum injured in kennel?”
“No documented physical injury.”
“Was dog inside?”
“No.”
“Was weather dangerous?”
“No.”
Good.
Then:
“Is it possible Ambrose believed he was helping?”
“Yes.”
That surprised him.
Then:
“Does that matter?”
Objection.
Sustained.
I stepped down.
