PART 6

A New Beginning
The luxury apartment project officially became something no one expected.
Instead of demolishing the old building...
Grant restored it.
Apartment 3B remained exactly as Maria had left it.
The sewing machine stayed by the window.
The old lamp remained beside the chair.
Even the faded wallpaper was carefully preserved.
The rest of the building became affordable housing for elderly residents who had nowhere else to go.
At the entrance hung a simple bronze plaque.
Not bearing Grant's name.
Or Harrison's.
It read:
Maria Holloway Residence
"No one should lose their home because someone more powerful decides their memories are worth less than money."
When reporters asked Grant why he spent millions preserving an outdated apartment building, he smiled.

"Because the most valuable thing that ever lived there..."
"...was my mother."
