Chapter 23 - MILO’S QUESTION

Milo asked to see Vivian when he was five and a half.
Not because we suggested it.
He heard Callum mention her.
“Is Grandma still Grandma?”
“Yes.”
“Even jail?”
“Yes.”
“Can bad grandma be grandma?”
“Yes.”
Children dislike categories that overlap.
Maya said:
“You do not have to arrange contact because he asks once. Explore what he wants.”
What did he want?
To ask:
“Why you said Mom food garbage?”
Not the tea.
Not the hospital.
The insult.
That was what remained.
We arranged no direct meeting yet.
Instead he wrote a card with therapist help.
Why did you say Mom cooks garbage?
Vivian replied through counsel-approved family channel:
Because I wanted to make your mother feel small, and I was angry that people valued something she built without me.
I stared.
Accurate.
Milo read.
Then:
“Mom not small.”
“No.”
“Grandma jealous?”
“Partly.”
He nodded.
That explanation fit kindergarten logic better than land debt.
He chose not to meet.

Good.
No forced reconciliation.
