Chapter 7 - I TRY TO DESTROY THE WEDDING VIDEO

A guest posted a short clip.
Not the exact assault.
The aftermath.
Marjorie holding her head.
Me carrying Ivy.
Guests shouting.
By midnight, a gossip account had it.
Headline:
CORVANE BOSS SHAVES SISTER AT WEDDING.
I lost control.
I told my security company:
“Find every copy and get it removed.”
They contacted platforms.
Reasonable.
Then I went farther.
I told our attorney to threaten one guest with breach of confidentiality because she had filmed inside a private Corvane event.
Problem:
There was no signed confidentiality agreement.
She had been an invited guest.
She had filmed openly.
The clip contained no protected business secret.
My attorney refused.
So I called the woman’s employer.
Not to threaten explicitly.
I said:
“Your employee is distributing private images of a child.”
That part was true.
But I knew what my name meant.
Her employer suspended her pending review.
For twelve hours.
Celia Grant found out.
She came to my office furious.
“You used a business relationship to punish a guest.”
“She posted Ivy.”
“Then send a lawful privacy request.”
“She humiliated my daughter.”
“She showed Marjorie’s hair and your back. Ivy’s face was blurred in the repost.”
“I don’t care.”
“That is the problem.”
The guest had already removed her original video voluntarily after learning Ivy was distressed.
Her employer reinstated her.
I called personally.
“I used pressure I should not have used.”
She was silent.
Then:
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry.”
No warm acceptance.
Good.
I also wrote to her employer clarifying there was no allegation of workplace misconduct and no request for discipline.
Another record of my worst instinct.
Power first.

Reflection second.
I needed to reverse that order.
