Chapter 25 - LENORA GETS ONE LETTER

Ivy was not ready to see Lenora.

She was ready to write.

One page.

Dr. Hart helped only with spelling.

Grandma,

I know my hair grows back.

I know Aunt Marjorie is sorry.

I am still mad you watched.

I am mad you made the haircut appointment when Dad said I could choose.

Mom is my mom even if she is dead.

I am also Corvane.

I do not have to pick one.

Do not plan things about me without asking Dad and me.

I do not want to visit yet.

Ivy

I read it once.

Then asked:

“Do you want to change anything?”

“No.”

“Are you sure about ‘and me’?”

She frowned.

“Why?”

“Some adult decisions are mine.”

“Hair is me.”

Fair.

“Keep it.”

The letter went through counsel.

Lenora sent no reply because Ivy did not ask for one.

That was the first instruction she followed perfectly.

Maybe because lawyers enforced it.

Maybe because she learned.

The difference did not matter yet.

Behavior first.

Interpretation later.
