Colette testified without drama.

First incident.

Second.

Third.

“What did you personally see on the third?”

“Mrs. Maddox pulled Elodie by the upper arm and shoulder from the bed. Elodie’s knees buckled and she fell.”

“Was supplemental oxygen in place?”

“Yes.”

“Did tubing disconnect?”

“It loosened partially.”

“Did Elodie sustain serious injury?”

“No.”

Good.

“Why was she supposed to remain assisted?”

“Fatigue, oxygen need, dizziness after treatment.”

Then Bernice’s attorney.

“Did Mrs. Maddox ever strike Elodie?”

“No.”

“Did you see her intentionally disconnect oxygen?”

“No.”

“Did Elodie ask to stand during first incident?”

“I did not hear initial conversation.”

“So it is possible?”

“Yes.”

“Second incident, Elodie needed bathroom.”

“Yes.”

“So walking itself was not forbidden.”

“Unassisted walking was discouraged at that time.”

“Mrs. Maddox was nearby.”

“Yes.”

“How nearby?”

“Several feet.”

Then:

“On third incident, Mr. Maddox struck my client.”

“Yes.”

“Hard?”

“I heard the slap.”

“Did he appear enraged?”

“Yes.”

“Did that escalate room?”

“Yes.”

My own conduct in record.

Good.

Then prosecutor on redirect:

“Did Griffin’s slap cause Bernice’s actions before he entered?”
