Chapter 25 - THE EMAIL THAT ENDED THE ARGUMENT

The decisive email was not dramatic.
No confession.
No villain speech.
My husband had sent it to himself.
Subject:
If she leaves hospital angry.
A private checklist.
Keep Seren with me if consistent with signed care plan.
Give hospital copy if residence questioned.
If Morwenna goes to Eamon’s, document that she left voluntarily.
Contact Miriam before changing infant residence.
Keep communications calm.
Do not mention inheritance.
Signed care plan.
The forged one.
Then another note:
If she demands baby after leaving, do not physically stop her. Call lawyer/police only if advised.
Important.
No planned force.
Then:
Goal is not to keep her away. Goal is to prevent her from changing agreed plan after emotion takes over.
Agreed plan.
Not agreed.
That ended the placeholder defense.
He intended to treat forged consent as agreement.
Then an email to Clarissa:
If this works, once we get through ninety days she’ll calm down and we can go home together.
That showed something complicated.
He genuinely believed coercion would save marriage.
He did not plan permanent separation.
He planned to force a temporary structure until I accepted it.
That was still abuse of consent.
Maybe psychologically more disturbing because he called it love.
Then Miriam Cole testified.
“I told him clearly not to represent unsigned or unauthorized papers as consent.”
“Did you advise creating status quo?”
“No.”
“Did you advise separating mother and newborn to improve custody position?”
“No.”
“Did you advise financial pressure?”
“No.”
Good.
No professional mastermind.
Then company board chair testified only as relevant to financial pressure.
Clarissa could influence promotion recommendation but not unilaterally appoint.
Inheritance entirely personal.
My husband’s belief he would lose “everything” was exaggerated.
He risked:
Promotion.
Future gifts.
Inheritance.
Not current job or vested shares automatically.
He chose forgery partly to avoid losses that were real but not existential.
Then final financial expert:
Morwenna was never at risk of literal pennilessness under prenup.
Clarissa’s threat was false in scale.
Again.
Fear built on exaggeration.
Then my husband’s final testimony.
“Why didn’t you simply let Morwenna leave with Seren and ask court for parenting time?”
He cried.
“Because I thought if she left, marriage was over.”
“And forging consent prevented that?”
“No.”
There.
Then:
“What do you want now?”
“To be Seren’s father without controlling where Morwenna lives.”
That was the right answer.
Too late for marriage.
Maybe not too late for fatherhood.
The hearing closed.
Decision in two days.
No cliffhanger confession.

Evidence complete.
Now consequences.
