Chapter 11 - THE FULL RECORDING
The most complete account of Thanksgiving Eve did not come from the Vale security system.
It came from a hearing device.
One of the dinner guests, retired Admiral Peter Sloan, wore a digital hearing aid connected to his phone. The device’s accessibility application recorded environmental audio for later transcription.
Sloan had forgotten the function remained active.
His phone captured six hours.
The government obtained the file through legal process after he disclosed it.
The recording began with polite dinner conversation.
Marcus discussed Aegis.
Sylvia praised Celeste.
Chloe asked why her seat had changed.
Then the voices moved into the study.
The hearing aid remained in the library, but the estate’s open ventilation carried portions of sound.
Sylvia: “Your mother believed she could prosecute our name out of existence.”
Chloe: “What are you talking about?”
Marcus: “Sign.”
Chloe: “You drugged me.”
Celeste: “She can barely stand.”
Sylvia: “Then guide her hand.”
A struggle.
Chloe saying no.
Marcus telling her she had already signed.

He called Marcus’s name.
Sylvia opened the study door.

The recording then captured Marcus calling Gideon.
“Father, she fought.”
Gideon’s voice was faint but identifiable.
“Then you chose the wrong pressure.”
“What do I do?”
“Remove the obstacle. Preserve the signature. Do not damage HavenGrid.”
Marcus asked whether Chloe should receive medical care.
Gideon replied, “After the vote.”
That call placed the supposedly dead founder inside the conspiracy.
Voice authentication, carrier records, and device metadata supported the identification.
The full recording also changed Celeste’s case.
She repeatedly told Marcus to stop.
She attempted to unlock the door.
Sylvia threatened to expose her affair and destroy her career.
Celeste remained involved, but the recording supported coercion and mitigation.
Admiral Sloan’s role became damaging.
After hearing Chloe cry, he told another guest, “Family pressure is not our issue.”
He later signed the witness page.
He was not charged immediately. Investigators assessed whether he knowingly participated in fraud or merely failed morally.
Public institutions withdrew him from advisory roles.
He issued an apology.
Chloe declined to meet him.

Gideon smiled at the camera.

The video ended with coordinates.
A marina on the Chesapeake.
Agents treated it as bait.
Surveillance teams moved carefully.
At the location, they found an empty boat and another recording.
This one showed Gideon seated beside a bound man.
