Adrian’s criminal trial began eighteen months after the baby shower.
Eliana was walking by then.
She had no memory of the ballroom, the fist, or the operating room.
Her body had healed before her mind could form the story.
Mine had not.
I testified for two days.
The prosecution began with the baby shower video.
Adrian entering with Sienna.
His announcement.
My request that he leave.
The punch.
The applause.
Celeste blocking Naomi.
Victor saying the press mattered.
The defense asked why I had hidden my wealth from my husband.
“I did not hide the existence of a trust. I did not disclose confidential beneficiary details.”
“Did Adrian believe you were an ordinary employee?”
“Yes.”
“You allowed him to believe that?”
“I allowed him to know me without an asset statement.”
“Was that deception?”
“No.”
“You expected complete honesty from him while withholding your own financial power.”
“I disclosed what the prenuptial agreement required. He disclosed assets that did not exist.”
The attorney changed direction.
“Were you planning to leave him before the shower?”
“Yes.”
“Did you tell him?”
“No.”
“So you were secretly preparing to take his child.”
“I was preparing a lawful safety and custody plan after he grabbed me and threatened my trust.”
“Did you provoke him by ordering him from his parents’ home?”
“I told him to leave my baby shower after he arrived with his mistress.”
Some jurors looked toward Adrian.
He no longer smirked.
Sienna testified under a cooperation agreement limited to truthful disclosure of her conduct.
She admitted attending the shower knowingly.
Admitted the affair.
Admitted signing documents without reading them fully.
Then she described Adrian’s lies and Celeste’s plan.
The defense attempted to portray us as two jealous women coordinating revenge.
Sienna answered:
“Mara and I do not need to like each other for the same recording to be true.”
Naomi authenticated the original video and wrist signal.
Officer Martinez described evidence preservation.
Dr. Shah explained the medical emergency and early delivery.
Financial experts described forged documents and the Ashford leverage plan.
Adrian was convicted on the central assault, forgery, coercion, fraud, and conspiracy charges. He was acquitted on one count alleging attempted kidnapping because neither Sienna nor I had yet been physically transported to Marlowe and the statutory elements were not completed.
The verdict’s limits mattered.
