Chapter 20 - BELLA

Bella carried guilt for years.

Too much.

She had been twelve.

A child inside an adult system.

At twenty-three she finally told Grace:

“I laughed.”

“I know.”

“I took your doll in one video.”

“I know.”

“I liked being the favorite.”

Grace looked at her.

“You were twelve.”

“I still liked it.”

“You were trained to like it.”

“That doesn’t mean none of it was me.”

Grace understood.

Responsibility can exist without adult-level blame.

Bella became a pediatric occupational therapist.

Not because redemption required helping children.

She actually loved the work.

Sabrina once asked to attend Bella’s graduation.

Bella said yes.

Margaret too?

No.

Her choice.

Grace attended.

They took one photo together.

Bella asked:

“Can I post?”

Grace thought.

“Yes.”

Simple.

One photograph.

No sponsor.

No strategy.

No engagement dashboard.

The comments were ordinary.

People liked dresses.

Congratulations.

One troll referenced the haircut case.

Bella deleted it.

No response.

The internet did not get to dictate whether cousins could have a picture.
