Chapter 24 - MY BUSINESS

I nearly sold my design company during the divorce.
Bad idea.
I was tired.
The buyer offered a fair price.
Cash.
Clean exit.
Dad told me not to.

Therapy is expensive because apparently adults must pay professionals to tell them when they are repeating adolescence.
I kept it.
Hired a president.
Reduced my hours.
The company grew.

Restaurants.
Private residences.
Maternal-health clinics.
One domestic-violence transitional housing project.
I almost refused that one.
Too close.
Then I read the brief.
Secure entry.
Private family rooms.
Children’s play areas.
Legal-consult spaces.
No institutional feeling.
I accepted.
Not as healing symbolism.
As work.
My team did most of it.
Good.
