Chapter 25 - THE DOG CRATE

Moose died when Cormac was twenty-four.

Old.

Loved.

Cormac called me from the clinic.

“I knew this was coming.”

“I know.”

“Still sucks.”

“Yes.”

He kept Moose’s collar.

Not the crate.

Donated it.

Years later, Cormac adopted another dog.

No crate initially.

Then the dog trainer recommended one after surgery so the dog would not injure itself.

Cormac stood beside the open crate for almost ten minutes.

His wife asked:

“You okay?”

“Yes.”

Then he placed a blanket inside.

Left the door open.

The dog walked in voluntarily.

Cormac laughed.

He told me later.

“Turns out cages are about who controls the door.”

May you like

Yes.

That was true about many things.
