The prosecution began with the dining-room video.
Victoria feeding Liam.
Leo crawling barefoot.
Brooke laughing.
Dominic blocking my access.
My slap.
The prosecutor did not hide it.
The jury watched me strike him.
Then they watched the earlier footage.
Dominic activating the camera.
Victoria removing Leo’s chair.
Brooke placing the ball beneath the table.
The scene changed from sudden family conflict to prepared provocation.
Dr. Patel described Leo’s injuries, dehydration, weight loss, and trauma regression.
She did not diagnose the source of every bruise.
Nina described the belt.
The metal bowl.
The withheld food.
The repeated recordings.
The defense attacked her financial dependence and immigration fear.
She admitted taking small items from Victoria’s pantry for Leo.
That unauthorized act did not erase the photographs and schedules.
Peter Vale testified under his plea agreement.
He admitted drafting the incapacity report before seeing Leo.
Dominic sent him the trust clause and asked what symptoms would support permanent impairment.
Peter recommended naturalistic documentation.
Dominic asked how consistent the behavior needed to appear.
“Did he order physical abuse?” the prosecutor asked.
“No.”
“Did he know the behaviors were being produced?”
“Eventually, yes.”
“When?”
“After Brooke sent the floor-feeding video.”
“What did he say?”
“He said, ‘Now it looks real.’”
No recording preserved that exact sentence.
Peter’s motive to reduce punishment was obvious.
Messages supported the broader exchange.
Brooke testified next.
She admitted the affair, paternity secret, coaching Liam, filming Leo, and knowing the treatment was cruel.
The defense displayed luxury purchases and plea terms.
“You will say anything to avoid losing your son.”
“I already lost control of where he lives because of what I did.”
“Did Dominic strike Leo in your presence?”
“Once.”
Nina said multiple times.
Differences did not destroy the pattern.
The hidden camera showed Dominic dragging Leo by the arm on another day.
The defense called it preventing him from running.
The bruise pattern supported force.
Helen Marsh explained the trust and Hawthorne investment.
The judge instructed the jury not to treat wealth as proof of crime.
The financial motive mattered only where linked to actions.
Digital experts traced forged signatures, the false order, and the prepaid phone messages.
Dominic’s lawyers argued Victoria controlled the household abuse while Dominic pursued legitimate care and business financing.
They presented affectionate messages he sent about Leo before Charles died.
They showed photographs of zoo trips, bedtime stories, and birthdays.
Good memories existed.
The prosecution did not deny them.
A father could love a child in moments and still join a plan that harmed him.
I testified.
The defense focused on my absence and slap.
“You failed to see your son for twenty-three days.”
“Yes.”
“You allowed your husband to manage care.”
“Yes.”
“You thanked Victoria for handling a difficult phase.”
“Yes.”
“You attacked Dominic when you returned.”
“Yes.”
“You now control the narrative because you have Charles Wren’s lawyers.”
“No. Records, witnesses, and courts control different parts.”
The lawyer asked whether I wanted Dominic imprisoned.
“Yes.”
The honest answer created silence.
“Because he cheated?”
“Because evidence shows he abused and used our child. The affair explains part of the plan. It is not why the state charged him.”
Dominic chose to testify.
He described himself as a father desperate for treatment.
He said Victoria’s methods exceeded his instructions.
He admitted the affair.
He admitted Liam was his son.
He admitted wanting a family life with Brooke.
He denied manufacturing incapacity.
Then the prosecutor showed his message:
Once the diagnosis is entered, the corporate vote follows automatically.
“What corporate vote?”
Dominic said he meant ordinary trust procedure.
“Why did a medical diagnosis matter to construction financing?”
