Federal investigators obtained warrants after evidence connected the Continuity Foundation to identity fraud and corporate theft.
The building stood beyond an abandoned naval pier, surrounded by pine trees and fog.
Inside were server racks, biometric archives, medical files, and rooms resembling film studios.
One room contained copies of my wardrobe.
Another held silicone scar molds.
Voice-training equipment sat beside recordings of my speeches.
Vanessa had practiced there.

In each case, siblings, cousins, or genetically similar relatives were trained as continuity substitutes.

A pharmaceutical founder died in a plane crash twenty years earlier.
Her younger sister appeared publicly for three months, signed a merger, then disappeared into a private clinic.

Deceased at six weeks.
My name.
I was not the first Claire.
The first daughter died after a respiratory infection.
Our father refused to let the identity disappear because trust documents, inheritance structures, and investor announcements already named Claire as successor.
When Elaine later gave birth to identical twin girls, they reassigned the dead infant’s identity to one twin.
Me.
Vanessa received the secondary name.
My birth certificate had been altered.
