Mara searched the family-court docket.
There was already a filing.
Submitted Friday afternoon.
The day before I found the cage.
Lauren requested:
Sole legal custody.
Reduced visitation for me.
Permission to relocate with the children to Virginia Beach.
Continuation of the residence trust’s housing support.
Appointment of a parenting coordinator.
Mandatory psychological evaluation for Claire.
Not me.
Claire.
The petition described my daughter as:
Manipulative.
Attention-seeking.
Prone to false allegations.
Emotionally fused with her father.
Hostile toward her mother’s new relationship.
Lauren claimed Claire fabricated stories after my weekends in order to extend time with me.
Attached were school-counselor notes.
Ms. Corey’s name appeared throughout.
I called Mara.
“Claire said Lauren told her the counselor had a file.”
“She does.”
“Does it say Claire lies?”
“Not exactly.”
Ms. Corey’s original notes were obtained through proper court process.
They said:
Claire reports mother sometimes leaves home while children remain without adult supervision.
Claire expresses fear when responsible for younger brother.
Claire states she is instructed not to contact father outside scheduled times.
Recommend joint parent meeting and further safety assessment.
The copy attached to Lauren’s petition was different.
Selected sentences remained.

Then Lauren’s attorney summarized:
These behaviors appear consistent with anxiety, boundary confusion, and paternal alignment.
The most important line had disappeared:
Mother sometimes leaves children without adult supervision.
Ms. Corey had never diagnosed Claire as dishonest.
She had reported concerns.
Lauren transformed those concerns into evidence against the child.
Even worse, the school had attempted to contact me twice.
Both messages went to an email address I no longer used.
Lauren had submitted an emergency-contact update removing my current address from the school portal.
The custody order prohibited either parent from removing the other.
She did it anyway.
The pattern was becoming visible.
Not one terrible Saturday.
Information controlled in small places.
Phones.
School accounts.
Pickup times.
Therapy summaries.
Trust reimbursements.
