He was not charged with crushing Avery’s hand.
Tyler did that.
Michael was charged for what he did afterward and for separate financial conduct revealed by the investigation.
He admitted:
Writing a false incident statement.
Instructing Tyler to blame Avery.
Removing the pool warning label.
Encouraging the hatch video despite knowing the support arm was absent.
Submitting false foundation records.
Using nonprofit funds for private business expenses.
Creating misleading reports after previous youth injuries.
His plea reduced potential incarceration.
The court imposed a custodial term shorter than public commentators demanded, followed by supervision, restitution, and restrictions on working with youth sports organizations and handling client funds.

“She watched her uncle offer money for different wording.
“She had to ask me not to make her protect him.
“Michael called that protecting both children.
“It was not.
“Protecting Tyler would have meant stopping dangerous content before someone was hurt, correcting him after Jordan’s concussion, and teaching him that accountability does not erase love.
“Instead, Michael taught him that every person injured near him became a threat to his future.”
The judge imposed sentence.
